Sperm With Urination
Q: Hi. I’m 23 years old, male, and I have never had sex before so I’m watching porn every day to satisfy my desires. I have a problem that happens when I urinate. Sperm goes out after urination, and I don’t know the cause of this problem.
A: A certain amount of semen can still be found in the urethra after an ejaculation, so that when you urinate, your urine can be cloudy. I am assuming that this is what you are talking about. This is normal and is not a problem. For the future, when you do start having sex, you need to know that pulling out before ejaculation may not prevent pregnancy as you may also have pre-ejaculate that contains left over sperm that stays in your urethra.
Difficulty With Condoms
Q: I’m having an issue since the first time I tried having sex. When I try to put a condom (fully erected and with my foreskin pulled back), first I find really hard to make the condom get past the gland (not sure if because or size or what) and then the foreskin under my gland makes it really really difficult to get the condom over it. Sometimes I even have to put a finger between the condom and my penis to help the condom roll down. Can I get some advice, help or opinion?
A: First step is to find a condom that fits. So you may have to try on different sizes. Pulling back your foreskin before putting rolling down the condom is important. You might find it helpful to put a few drops of water or silicone based lubricant inside the tip prior to putting it on. If pulling back your foreskin is difficult, then I suggest you have a doctor look at it to see what can be done to loosen it.
Little Semen
Q: I am a 38-year-old male and I’ve always had issues with little to NO semen when I cum. I’ve been to different doctors and they give me the runaround. Turn your head, cough…I’ll spare the rest. I’ve been tested, no STIs, nothing. Now I hear about something called Saw palmetto. What do you know? Any help at all would be life-changing. There have to be others like me out there. Thank you!
A: First of all, in terms of semen volume, this varies from male to male and sometimes within each male. Several factors may be at play. Volume is affected by hydration, and by the number of times a man ejaculates in a short amount of time. In this case, the first ejaculation may produce more semen and subsequent ones less and less. Low volume can also be an indication of some underlying medical issue, but if you have had your doctor check you out, then I suppose you could rule that out. Another condition exists, called retrograde ejaculation, whereby some (or all) of the semen is going backward, back into the bladder rather than out the urethra. In this case, you might notice that your urine is cloudy. Sometimes a blockage in the seminal vesicles can cause a low volume of semen, but in this case, there is usually pain that accompanies the orgasm. As for the second part of your question regarding the Saw Palmetto, I don’t believe this would help. Saw Palmetto, which is a type of tree producing a fruit that is used to make this “remedy” is mostly used for men who have an enlarged prostate. However, there is not much evidence that this works. I have not found any connection between Saw Palmetto and increased semen production.
Foreskin
Q: I am 19 and my foreskin still covers my head. I have never even seen the head of my penis.
A: It sounds like you are unable to retract your foreskin. Your foreskin may be “stuck” or feel like it’s “glued” to your shaft. This is a condition called Phimosis. In such cases, erections and/or intercourse may be painful. It is important to be able to retract your foreskin for hygiene purposes. You need to seek the advice of a medical doctor to determine if this is in fact Phimosis, and will give you some treatment solutions. The most invasive treatment that could be required is circumcision. But only once your doctor examines you will he/she be able to tell you what you need to do.
