Want to have mind-blowing sex without foregoing protection? Make sure you have the right-sized condom! If you’ve ever experienced the “red ring of death” or a moment of uncomfortable condom slippage, you know just what we mean. Size does matter – when it comes to condoms. Here are some tips on how proper condom fit can help you be more confident in the bedroom!
This National Condom Month, size specialists have a message for you: Don’t forget to measure your penis. Why? Like all body parts, penises come in a range of lengths and girths – and now, condoms do, too!
Lots of people use regular condoms for their pleasure and protection without any problem. Quick applause for them! But, for many folks, the size of a standard condom (which is over an inch longer than the size of an average penis) doesn’t feel like the perfect fit. That’s where custom-fit condoms come in.
There’s no “perfect size,” but there are perfectly sized condoms for every penis. What happens if you aren’t wearing the right size? You might wonder, “Is this really getting the job done?”
If you’ve ever had a fit-related issue, you aren’t alone. When a condom is too loose, you may experience slippage. When it’s too short, the condom may not cover you completely from base to tip for full protection against sexually transmitted infections (STIs). When it’s too long, that extra latex can roll up at the base like a tight rubber band, or hang off at the tip. Standard condoms are too tight for 70% of people, which can lead to constriction, erection loss, and desensitization. It’s important to wear a condom for protection against STIs, and it’s also important that your condom fits properly.
Remember the classic Sex Ed demonstration where your teacher slid a condom over their arm to demonstrate how stretchy it is? What they didn’t tell you was that their arm has a bone in it (hi, stability!) while a penis does not (hi, erection loss!). So, if you’re in the majority of people who find standard condoms too tight (long, short, or loose!), just know that you’re not alone.
Despite what your teacher may have told you, one size does not always fit all. Which is why there are a variety of condom sizes to choose from! The size of your penis doesn’t matter, but the size of your condom is something to consider.
So, how do you know if a condom fits just right? A pleasurable condom fit is the combination of the right length and girth. A great fitting condom length is long enough so that it covers the entire shaft from base to tip for full protection against STIs that are transmitted by skin-to-skin contact – but not so long that a bunch of extra latex hangs off at the tip or rolls up at the base. When it comes to girth, a proper fitting condom is snug enough so it stays on, but not so tight that it causes discomfort, squeezing or erection loss.
MyONE® Condoms have 10 different length options and 9 different girth options, for a total of 52 size combinations. The perfect length and width await!
