The Rites of Patriarchy pt.II

Ok, so I had pretty much stopped writing these because...well...because no one reads them anyway. But do you ever just get that nostalgia urge to hear a song you haven't in a long time so you type a artist's name in google and see what songs they've done since you've last heard them? No? Well...I do. And I did...but it wasn't new tracks that caught my eye. It was an article. Coincidentally, a couple that serve to illustrate a strikingly similar point....Be warned. Its really long.

Here's the first article:

http://www.thedailyb**st.com/articles/2014/11/20/eminem-s-****-fantasy-with-iggy-azalea-the-tired-juvenile-misogyny-needs-to-stop.html

Excerpt:

"And recently, on a freestyle to promote his compilation album Shady XV, the Detroit rapper regurgitated the following about Lana Del Rey: “Bitch I’ll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plain sight of the elevator surveillance / ’Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens.”

His latest target is pop star Iggy Azalea. On the track “Vegas,” also off Shady XV, Eminem details a **** fantasy involving the Australian femcee:

“Bitch, shut the fuck up and get in my car / And suck my fucking dick while I take a shit / And I think with my dick so come blow my mind / And it tastes like humble pie / So swallow my pride, you're lucky just to follow my ride / If I let you run alongside the Humvee / Unless you're Nicki, grab you by the wrist, let's ski / So what's it gon' be? Put that shit away Iggy / You don't wanna blow that **** whistle on me / Scream! I love it / 'Fore I get lost with the gettin' off.”

Azalea responded with the following tweets:

She’s got a point. Eminem is 42 years old. His daughter recently graduated high school, for God’s sake. He’s got the right to say whatever he likes—we all do—but these days, his misogynistic shtick has gotten so old and uninspired, resembling the anxious pleas of a washed-up has-been."

Admittedly, I'm not an Iggy fan. I've heard one or two of her songs, and besides it being crappy rap, they're stupid, cookie-cutter ignorant, overlysexualied rap songs. She's a homophobe and her "ghetto speak" accent she uses during her songs is painstakingly idiotic and again, ignorant. Has Iggy sexualized herself and conjured up counter-productive and juvenile lyrics? Sure...but it's no damn excuse to have a **** fantasy recorded by some forty-two year old man, Eminem or not. Like, he has a young daughter...would he want some rapper describing r****g her? I mean this is the stuff I talk about. Eminem has TONS like drones of loyal fans. He's very well-known and influential. HOW many of his fans are going to hear this song, think it's cool and think **** is no big thing, or even that it's cool. To be fair I listened to a lot of Eminem's stuff during high school. Yes, he was ALWAYS misogynistic but, IDK...something about the anger and stuff of his songs I liked for a while. It's in no way excusable, but it is possible understandable when you're a young, poor, frustrated rapper vying for success. It's not like this is the first time it's happened. Well all know about the Kim stuff and all the other women he's defiled in his songs. But, hey...he gets a pass for that because he's Eminem.

Now? He's one of the most successful entertainers of all time...WHY stoop to this kind of crap? At what point do you grow up and take some kind of responsibility for the kinds of messages you're sending. Well at this point it's clear he doesn't care. WHY do people make excuses for him? "He's just having fun", "she's just a whore anyway" "she degrades herself, why can't he?" I really don't get it anymore. I don't...I'm so glad only porn is misogynistic and not anything else and that all this is just my imagination because if not I'd be really frustrated. But all rappers hate women and treat them as whores, sluts, bitches and hoes in their songs, anyway. Hmmm....I bet rappers and male pornstars would get along great. Moving onto someone who isn't a rapper...

http://www.thedailyb**st.com/articles/2014/11/20/i-warned-you-about-bill-cosby-in-2007.html

Excerpt:

In 2007—seven years before she publicly came forward—I spoke with Joan Tarshis, a former Hollywood publicist who claimed that Bill Cosby ****d her. After our talk—and, of course, much more research—I filed a version of the following story on my website Hollywood, Interrupted. It identified a number of women who claimed that Bill Cosby had ****d them. (The story has been updated slightly to reflect the allegations of the past few weeks, including Tarshis’s choice to drop the pseudonym she had elected to use in prior years.) In my interviews with several of the women back then, I found the tale they told disturbingly similar: All were young and impressionable, beautiful, and talented. Cosby had taken a keen interest in their careers, and had offered to mentor them or otherwise open the fabled doors to the glistening kingdom of show business, for which he was a principal emissary. All were given spiked drinks—or d**gs misrepresented as medicine—and became incapacitated, the women charged. And all allegedly awoke with the unshakable sense that something wrong had occurred. People magazine even ran an article on the lawsuits that were settled with several of the women, but never followed up on it. And from my own experience, I can confirm that the story shook people to the core: Even more than Woody Allen, Bill Cosby was a beloved figure and civil-rights pioneer; hardened editors were horrified at the prospect of taking him down. I might as well have pitched a story about Martin Luther King, Jr. philandering with white women. The story went nowhere.

But with the recent onslaught of similar allegations—many from women on whose charges the statute of limitations has long since passed, so they have no financial incentive or clear reason to cloud their reputations well into middle age—it’s important to track the history of this story, and the media complicity that has enabled it to remain untold for so long. Heroes always fall hard. But their suffering and anguish is nothing compared to that of their victims.

Ok...I don't even have words for this. For all the "Not all men", "only a few men ****" sympathizers...just...shut up. If the jello pudding pop guy did it for years at this point I assume they all do. Of course everyone is going to take his time and defend him "There's no enough evidence", "Why wait so long to accuse him?","Oh, they're just making it up" "they're trying to get money, it didn't really happen", "it's a set-up".....Right...But like always, allegations were made YEARS ago, but no one ever listens. Women are always lying, and just out for money. And HEY IT'S BILL COSBY!!! Again, **** doesn't exist and none of this is real...Just a bunch of women with an agenda. Seriously, I believe they'd all do it if they knew they could get away with it. Being rich and famous and having and pretty much every willing woman at your disposal isn't enough...no...you have to assert your dominance and d**g and forcibly take advantage of them anyway.
I just don't understand it. I cannot even comprehend the gamble that straight/bi or whatever women take when they go out with a man for the first time knowing he could just d**g their drink, k**nap, ****, torture, or kill them in a back alley one day....and SO easily. Hats off to you women. Fucking Bill Cosby...man. What hope does any of the rest of them have? I dare someone to tell me there's no patriarchy. Things could be so different...but they're not. Women are just crazy, emotional, delusional liars and sluts, and everyone loves men...C'est la vie

"Andrea Constand, then a 31-year-old former University of Arizona basketball star and athletic department executive at Temple University in Philadelphia, Cosby’s alma mater, came forward to allege that after a dinner party in January 2004, Cosby d**gged her in his Philadelphia mansion, touched her breasts, put her hand on his genitals and that she awoke with her clothing in disarray and the sense that she had been violated. Her father told reporters that Constand, who has returned to her native Canada, had been good friends with Cosby, which is why it took her a full year to work up the courage to report the incident to authorities. Although no criminal charges were filed against Cosby, the comedian settled a lawsuit filed against him by the Canadian woman, seeking compensation from Cosby for “mental anguish,” “post-traumatic stress disorder” and the “loss of enjoyment of life’s pleasures.” The terms of the settlement, of course, are confidential."

Attorney Tamara Green, 58, a former fashion model and ex-wife of The Wild Bunch screenwriter Walon Green, claims the comedian d**gged and forced himself on her over 40 years ago. In response to comments by the Philadelphia district attorney that she perceived as indicating the charges against Cosby were in doubt, Green announced that she had the names of three other women who would testify to almost identical stories of being d**gged and assaulted. Green also claimed a young woman by the name of Page Young was so distraught over a similar sexual assault by Cosby that she was driven to suicide by a fatal d**g overdose.

*sigh*

a Sjm045 : Pretty much ever law ever is let in place to protect white men from everything. But it always turns out the same. Some rich famous man commits all these crimes, receives serious allegations and his money and stupid people and their bias opinion get them tossed out. It's funny how the general consensus always creates and accepts those excuses...until it's too late.

TBH the misogyny of rap and hip hop artists doesn't bother me. it's more that it's so trite. It's like metal bands screaming about demons. It's just too common to be interesting anymore. Some artists I like because they REFUSE to change with the times...AC-DC for example. They'd sound silly singing about anything but bad puns for fucking and pussy. I've always liked those that can reinvent themselves and push beyond their schtick...Bowie, Neil Y, Annie Lenox, and currently Saint. Vincent. It can be it or miss, but at least they try. Eminem is just not that interesting anymore. It's over.

a katachthonios : It's no longer "cute or hip" by the time he has a daughter who graduated high school and he's brutally insulting women young enough to be his daughter. He just seems desperate at this point, but it's how he's built his career and he'll just get a pass, anyway.

IMO he's rich and he's a man...and that pretty much enough to ensure you're untouchable. You look at all the cases of not just politicans and actors but all the sports(particularly basketball and football athletes...espeically recently...many of them black) who always get the benefit of the doubt and are taken care of regardless of skin color. Black, white, brown, purple if you're a man with money, you're going to be taken care of despite all the r*pe, assualt, harassemnt, muder, etc allegations or evidence or whatever. There's always ample excuses, and people willing to believe them. Money talks and the opporessed walk. If nothing else men sure do stick together...

a angelicgirla : Well rap in many ways is kinda like porn. Degrading women is almost a requirement it seems. I don't know how so many women can support it when so many "artist" are so misogynistic. There's some song that go WAY beyond r*pe threats, but I won't get into it.

Pfff...It doesn't matter what country in the world you're in. If you're a man and you have money and or power, you do whatever you want to whoever, however and you get off free. Period. IMO, there is no ideal country as long as everything remains as is.

we have laws that protect white men from threats of violence from Muslim men, but none to protect woman from the violent lyrics of many rap songs.

In the UK we had a similar celebrity with the same level of status as Cosby (jimmy Seville), after his death, there started a trickle of woman coming forward with allegations against him... The same comments were made "why so late", "they only want money".... That trickle became a flood... Turns out he was one of the worst sex offenders we have ever had. For decades he used his celebrity status to shut his many victims up.

In three parts:

Over the years I had grown fond of Eminem, being that he was the stunning combination of articulate and angry, and for a long while liked that line he walked between intelligent and ignorant, but now after so many years I'd like to seem him mature past the juvenile shit-talking and misogyny. He's had bright moments, and this is not one of them.

Bill Cosby: fuck that guy. The reason so many people are willing to throw 15+ women under the bus with the same idiotic, rape-apologist, victim-blaming bullshit is Bill Cosby make white people feel good about themselves. See, here's a successful black man playing a successful black man with a black family in a perfect post-racial world, where racism ended in the 60s and never a weighted or baited incident occurred. Cosby entertained to white patriarchy, and to pay him back, they excuse his serial assaults on women.

"If this happened so long ago, why am I only paying attention to it now? She must be lying." I have very nearly broken my monitor several times after reading that horseshit.

Thirdly, I love reading your blogs.

a lot of rap songs are really disgusting with no point just yelling and cursing that is why i never listen to rap music .. i read a news about some raper how threaten to rape his ex-girlfriend in his song !!!!! .. but( i wasn't surprised ) because that is what rap society is about ... also i thought these things only happens in third world counters where laws doesn't apply to politicians and rich famous powerful people ..so they can do what ever they want and say what ever they want ...... i don't know what to say about your blog .. first looks like shit happens every where in every country but also it destroyed my idea of what i call "ideal country " which i am not sure if it is really exist anymore or it is just another Atlantis
