Dust mites are useful parasites to us humans because they eat our skin or cutical level ( I think - check). We ignore them, except to those with allergies to their excrement that accumulates at home and in ever close quarter. This is fundamental reason we “dust the house” and lessen the level of dust mite shit around!

Not heard of anyone being possessed, I think that's more just a state of mind than anything else. Parasited on the other hand, there is a parasite found in cats that makes mammals love cats, it affects mice making them easy prey but it can also affect humans. Some crazy cat people can't help their obsession with cats
