Next up ... Tess
I live close to the city of Nottingham, a perfect central location to drive to forthcoming shoots. My next would be with Tess on the outskirts of Northern London. Finding models on the internet was relatively simple, there were a few websites where the models would display their portfolios, images and some text describing specialist areas, physical statistics etc.
I would always contact a model by email (directly to the model, not via a website. I don’t need or like middle men). My emails were deliberately polite, and businesslike, along the lines of:
Hi Claire
I am looking for mature models in the production of stills and video for my forthcoming website www.mature-erotic.com. The work is to top shelf magazine level. A typical shoot takes around three or four hours and I pay £XXX per shoot.

The responses were usually positive, since I would carefully view the model’s profile before contacting them. Some models would say they prefer not to do video, or they only do private shoots etc. but these were the exception.
The next step would be to email the model with the “further detail”. i.e. spelling out the nature of the video and stills that I aim to shoot. We would then arrange a shoot date and address. I would always give priority to those willing to shoot from home, since it saved me around £100 in expenses, however, this was not always possible. A lot of my shoots take place in the Ice House block of serviced apartments in the centre of Nottingham (the window cleaner will confirm this … but that’s a story for later).
My next arranged shoot was with Tess. An unusual claim in her portfolio was that she had been editor of one of the major top shelf magazines. Interesting! Tess was one of the older of my mature models.
Tess lived in a fairly expensive area North of London. Not that it was expensive looking, it’s house prices were high because of its proximity to the capital city. The street looked a bit in need of some TLC to me.
Anyway, I knocked on Tess’s door.
The door opened and there she stood.

I should have been somewhat suspicious of her profile pictures, they looked a little dated, in one she had a beehive hairstyle.
There is a very famous Australian “comedienne”, called Dame Edna Everidge. Dame Edna Everidge was actually a dressed up character created and played by a fantastically funny man called Barry Humphries. Tess looked like Barry Humphries.
I hid my shock and made an instant decision to carry on as planned. After all, my website would have to be about variety. Tess invited me in and we shook hands politely. The inside of the house required at least the same level of tlc as the street it occupied. At the back of the house in a small courtyard she had a studio, almost like a large glass greenhouse with furnishings. This pleased me as I was already learning of the benefits of natural light in photography.
Tess was quickly changed, makeup on and ready to rock. She had a tight little black mini skirt, a button front top, a hat which would not look out of place at Ascot on ladies day, and a pair of fully fashioned stockings bottomed off with low heels............
