And again, this is a personal story. You do not have my permission to share or repost it! Our planned trip for the day was a national trust property not far from Guildford. We’d arrived early and bagged a parking space right in the corner of the car park next to an old red brick wall about nine or ten feet high, the red having faded to a pinky-orange, beginning to crumble with age, and covered in roses, the colour of the bricks showing the peach and cream flowers at their best. Again... Not to be shared! It had been a beautiful summer day and was now late afternoon. It was still quite warm with a gentle breeze keeping it comfortable. The sky was blue complete with Simpsons large very white fluffy clouds dotted about in the sky. We were on our way back after a very good lunch with friends. The traffic news on the radio had talked about the slow and heavy traffic on the dreaded M25 so we altered the sat nav settings and opted for the scenic route instead, and it really was a lovely drive. Again, not to be shared! It had been a lovely if very warm day. There is never a time when the gardens at Wisley don’t look good but today the roses in the Bowes-Lyon rose gardens had been stunning. We’d stumbled on the best time to go and the roses and perennials all seemed to be at their absolute best with perfect blooms creating an explosion of colour and with the heat, the scent was intoxicating. We’d been at the gardens since late morning and were now exhausted and made our way back to the car. This is not to be shared! I hadn't been here for a long while and had mentioned it to you in passing a month or two earlier as being somewhere I was interested in visiting again, so was touched when you suggested it as a place to meet. It was a perfect day. The early morning mist had lifted just leaving a light dew on the grass and plants. Everything looked green, new and a little sparkly as the sun caught the water droplets everywhere.
