I had someone ask me a Frequently Asked Question in a post below, which I answered. However, since I get asked this question all the time, I decided to make it it's own post, so that everyone can check it out.

I bought a camera, some lighting, editing software, made a twitter to contact models, made a Clips4sale, and started reaching out to girls. For the basic legal stuff and HIV/STD testing I used google to find out the requirements/standards. You can google adult industry rates and find several articles out there that will give you a ball park of industry rates for each type of scene. When contacting models, be polite, respectful, and professional. Starting out, you probably won't have a ton of capital to work with; do your best not to haggle with the models when they tell you their rates. Some models will not book direct and you will have to go through their agent, which isn't an issue, but it can add to your overhead cost.    
I recommend starting with a basic HD camcorder [I’m a Sony guy personally] and then upgrade as your skills improve and your revenue increases. I recommend some basic soft boxes for lighting [a set of 3 with 5500k bulbs], which you can grab off of amazon for pretty cheap. I prefer soft boxes that have the ability to turn each bulb off and on individually, giving you more control of your light. Make sure your lighting comes with a discreet carrying case and that its some what compact, just incase you decide to travel and shoot. If you're going to buy a camera mounted light [ring light or otherwise] make sure you can adjust the light's brightness. 
Do your research and buy the best equipment you can find for a LOW price while keeping in mind simple, compact, and discreet. You can upgrade your equipment later, in fact, you’ll probably wind up doing that a few times. The equipment isn’t as important as figuring out how to operate a camera and lighting, what you want to shoot, and how you want to shoot it. Once you get good at using the basic equipment and start to master your niche, then you can upgrade your equipment, which will put the final touches on your content. For tips on filming and lighting just hit up youtube, there are a ton of experts on there covering various filming and lighting techniques. Youtube and trial and error!   
I recommend making your business an LLC or S-Corp and setting up a business checking [Wells fargo seems to be adult friendly but I recommend never disclosing anything you don't have to]. Your Company name should also be discreet [i.e. I wouldn't make it the same as your brand, the less people that know what you do, the better]. You can google all of that or find an adult industry friendly accountant and they can square all that away for you.
