                           I read an article in the paper today. It was about BIG DATA. I don’t know why I typed that in all caps. Maybe its’s to incite FEAR. Is it working? RELATIONSHIP, COMMITMENT, RENT, UNEMPLOYMENT! Scary words. Anyway, the article had all the fancy quotes. “Data is the new oil”, “You are the product”, “Google needs to pay”. So here’s the deal. We know all these companies are profiting off of everyone who browses the internet. They study people’s online activity and make calculated assumptions. Assumptions, that other companies are willing to pay big money for. It helps them sell their products better. For example, if you search for a kitchen knife online, google tells its friend, amazon, that someone’s in the mood for some cooking. Amazon quickly sends you a mail about all that sexy kitchenware it has to offer. That’s right. All those condom ads on YouTube, appear for a reason. It’s not just marketing. Companies study behavioural patterns. Entertainment companies want to know which parts of a movie excites you the most, so that they can make better movies. So, all this is fine. We already know that this is happening. What intrigues me is that the author went on to say that these companies need to start paying people for the data they collect. So that means, Google has to pay me for allowing it to study my interest in 90s cartoons. I don’t know how I feel about that. It’s like getting paid for giving up privacy.                        

We live in an age where, if you need to send a letter via mail, like actually physically with your hands, you need to google ‘stamp store’, realize its too far away, buy the stamp online instead, wait for it to arrive, stick it on the envelope, and then drive to the nearest post box, crash the car into the post box, explain to the postmaster that you never dreamt of stealing from the post box, pay a fine and then get back to your job, working for a satellite communications company.                        

Whenever I see a religious statue pop up on a busy street, I feel like we’ve failed as an “intelligent” species, but then again, there exists, a gigantic, Titanium statue of Yuri Gagarin [the first human to travel to outer space], and that thing looks killer! I’ve been contemplating doing stand-up comedy for a while now. I see all the specials on Netflix, and it gets me excited, but at the same time, I also come across the lesser known faces on Youtube get ripped apart for bad jokes. And then the hate comments. I get it. People come to see a good show, and if they don’t get one, they’ll rip you apart. I’ve seen really good comics do really bad shows and get booed. The crowd’s a harsh teacher. I get the whole “necessary evil” thing, but sometimes I wonder what happens to those comics who get beat down, never to get back up again. I understand it’s a learning process. Once you gain the ability to steer the crowd in the way you want them to go, it’s like weilding a superpower. It feels great. The crowd’s in on the joke, they are with you all along the way, waiting for the punchline, and when you finally deliver it, they erupt in laughter. It’ the greatest feeling in the world, to make people laugh. I tried to do it once. It went ok, and by “ok” I mean there was no booing. Oh! I missed one small detail. No one laughed, They just kept staring at me, waiting for a punchline. The only problem was, I didn’t have one. The only thing I had with me was some loose change, and sweat. But I kept looking at the girl’s faces, because, you know, women are generally more supportive about this type of thing, plus I was very single. But even they didn’t have anything for me. So I cut the crap, did some investigation.  Why am I funny in general, but a failure when I’m on stage? It has to be the fear, but then I trained myself out of the fear, and it still didn’t work. There was something limiting my ability to convey the humour. I wasn’t able to take the audience on a journey with me. Then it hit me. I am an introvert. My thought process is not then same in front of a crowd. That’s different from fear. It’s just that, the energy level is different. When I’m out with a friend or two, I don’t care where the conversation goes. I don’t filter out the religious, or sexual stuff from the my day-to-day experiences. Most importantly, I don’t try to be funny.  
Fuck this. People scare me, but I’ll keep coming back, punch-line or not.                        

It bothers me that someone may steal my identity and use it to make thousands of dollars behind my back. It mostly bothers me because I currently have my identity and can't figure out how to do that..

I never thought of it as God. I didn't know what to call it. I don't believe in devils, but demons I do because everyone at one time or another has some kind of a demon, even if you call it by another name, that drives them.

I've accepted that we've all got crap to deal with and problems that we're fighting not to be defined by. At the end of the day, we all want the same stuff: fulfillment, love, support, comfort, and a hot-air balloon with laser guns attached to it. The most important thing is that we appreciate the crazy ride we're on.
