The other
This is not a sexual story in anyway, it is an observation colored by my perspective. It is regarding the "other" and our treatment of "those people."
Who are they? You tell me, who are they for you? Are they black or white, gay or straight, small or large, male or female, rich or poor, conservative or liberal, Christian or Muslim, who are they for you? What feature do they share, these people who you feel no need to be decent to? Why are they so inferior that you have no need to treat them with respect? We as a species have always divided and categorized people as "us or them," it may have been necessary at one time, and many would argue it still is needed. But, why is it needed? Do you say, "you have to watch out for them, they can't be trusted?" What if they say the same thing about you? Who is right and who is wrong?
It seems to me that this site should be the one place where those divisions could be set aside. Here we all come to share that common desire to fulfill some emotion or physical need to be sexual beings. Sure our desires are not the same, you may like chocolate and I vanilla but we both want ice cream. Maybe you want turnips and nothing sweet. So what? Big fucking deal, does that give me the right to treat you like less than me? I see it in the world around me and I see it here. "Those people" don't matter, I don't have to play nice.
Why are half the women's profiles private and if not contain paragraph after paragraph of dos and donts? It seems like people forget they are talking to a person and not a set of tits. Perhaps it is the nature of anonymity to allow the thin vineer of civilized behavior to be rubbed off. I try to remain respectful on here, just as I would if I met you in person, do you feel that need? Women become "sluts" for pleasure and "dyke bitches" if they don't want to cam or see a dick. Blacks are a check mark on some distorted sexual bucket list, and men are all pigs. But, we forget that "slut" has a life like ours. She gets hungry and lonely. She goes to work and has worries. That "pig" gets scared and frets about his loved ones. He dreams of a vacation and hopes for a better future.
Let's not be naive and say there are no differences. Both nature and nurture have colored our individual perceptions and outlooks, it would be disingenuous to claim otherwise. But, maybe we can still have a degree of respect for people we disagree with. Our difference don't make me virtuous and you evil, they make us different. Is it too much to ask for common decency? Can't we give the "other" the courtesy of even grudging respect?
I don't care if you don't like me. Hell, I may not like you. But, if nothing else, we can be polite.
