The path that led me here
Okay, it might be worthwhile to tell you how I got to this point. I think it’s a slightly different path than most people took. Not a better or worse path, just a different path.
Be forewarned, this is probably going to be painfully boring.
So going waaayyy back, like a whole 3 years *smile*. That's seems like nearly a lifetime ago sometimes.
Hubby played world of warcraft. A lot. More than I liked. I think I've always maintained my nerd status, but for video games i had always been more of a Tetris and Mario girl. It was starting to become an issue, i started to refer to myself as a "WoW Widow".
Then, after quite a few attempts, he finally talked me into giving the game a try. He even made a character for me and got her all leveled up and everything.
It didn't go well.
I got frustrated quickly. It was mostly him telling me what I was doing wrong. Telling me which quests to do (dailies? unless it's the cooking ones, I just don't understand why you'd do dailies), what to wear, pretty much which buttons to push. It felt more like work than anything else.
I gave it a weekend, but then other than a couple random returns, didn't really play again until last fall.
That's when I was out of work for a while. Out of boredom I decided to give it another try.
This time I just did what I wanted. Which involved very little questing (only if the story sounded interesting, and I went back and did some of the low levels ones) no raids, and only a couple dungeons. I blew my money on clothes in the auction house (and got a lecture on buying cloth for a pally). But in general I had fun. So that was step one.
Step two.
I was introduced to roleplaying in the game. The regular kind, nothing kinky yet. I loved it. It opened up a whole new experience in the game for me. I know it's not for everyone, but for me, it was exactly what I'd been looking for. I wasn't very good at it (I'm still not that good) but I was having fun. I started coming back into the game on a regular basis. I tried with hubby again, but it was still a frustrating experience, and I think he was getting frustrated too. He makes fun of the roleplayers, so I never did it when I was online with him. But it must have been obvious that I wasn't interested in the raids and grinding and repeating dungeons over and over for gear. Especially after i'd tried the roleplaying/story telling side of the game. So i started planning my visits to Azeroth when he wasn't around.
Step three.
My first in game "affair". With a Tauren of course.... I'll save all the details for another story. I was playing by myself. Feeling really in my character. He was flirty, a little aggressive. Confident, all the things I'd fall for in real life. we had just run Shadowfang Keep, I was WAY over-leveled, we all were. But we were just doing it for fun. Afterwards everything except for the two of us left... one thing led to another and he ended up taking me, using me... I'd say we had sex, but honestly... he fucked me. I don't think I could describe everything i felt if I spent all day trying.
Our brain is our biggest sex organ, and having an experience like that, where everything was focused on that organ, was so intense. I felt a little bad the next day, I went back and forth on whether i'd really cheated. But god, that orgasm I had that night was like nothing I'd ever had before. It went on for probably a month or more. But it came to a point where it had to end (again, another story for another time).
Step 4.
I made characters on Moon Guard. I started focusing completely on roleplaying. Question to level, but even then I roleplayed through the story lines whenever I could. Only taking quest lines that seemed interesting. I made three characters, and their stories filled out more quickly than their levels. But I'm having fun. I try to keep the stories updated in MRP (the MyRolePlay addon)
Step 5.
I say a link in someones MRP to this site. And after thinking about it for a few days, going back and forth, I made an account here.
There you go... if you're still awake now you know how I got here :)
