Selecting the Right Chastity Cage by Sissy Allie

There has been an exponential growth in chastity cages in the past 10 years. I remember 10 years ago walking into a sex shop and after not being able to find a male chastity device asking the retail advice do they sell one or can I order one? They didn’t know what I was talking about? So I went online an ordered a CB3000. They were pretty much the pioneers of chastity devices and most people on blogs and sites were recommending them as they came with variable base/ball ring diameters and they allowed the adjustment of the spacers between the cage and the ball ring. So these off the shelf chastity cages were pretty much designed as one size fits all. The CB3000 was my first experience with chastity devices. And I soon learned this was a toy and not for long term play.

Today if you spent day on the internet I would not be surprised if you could find between 100 to 200 different types of male chastity devices. So there are so many to pick from. But how do you choose the right chastity cage for you?

In this blog I will try to explain what makes a good long-term chastity ball entrapment device with four examples of cages I would recommend.

The most important role of a chastity device is to keep the wearer in chastity. For the wearer to stay in chastity the cage must be able to be worn long term. If you are looking for a toy for an evening of fun you could pretty much wear anything which is the correct size. But for the wearer to stay in chastity for long term the wearer should be pain free, stay chafing free, stay cut free and able to achieve hygiene. If either one of these factors become too hard physically for the wearer to bear, h will want out to recover and that is exactly what the keyholder does not want. The keyholder should persuade the chastity wearer to find a chastity belt they can wear long term with no side affects. A good chastity device should be like a good pair of walking shoes. Able to be worn comfortably with no side effects.

So our goal is to identify a chastity device that can be worn long term. What is the definition of long term? Well for weeks, months and years. But I need to add the wearer should be allowed time to take the chastity device off at least once a week and preferably if manageable to have a good clean and inspection and/or hair removal.

What is the most important thing to consider? Well it is ball ring. If the ring is too tight the cage will become unwearable from pain, the wearer will suffer chaffing and cutting in some instances. These have all happened to me as I tried to find a cage which fits well and can be worn for the long term. A good ring size is one once you put the ring on you can still slip a finger between the ball ring and ball sack. At this point I apply a good oily feeling moisturiser around the ring area to prevent chafing. A petroleum jelly type of moisturiser works the best. I recommend an Australian product called Dermeze. But any similar product will suffice.

I am a strong believer if you get fitted for a cage which is truly escape proof the ball ring will be too tight and not be able to be worn for more than a few hours. A chastity cage should be escapable. Doms/Dommes have to understand that. But if the wearer escapes they cannot get back in and this is where they would be caught out. I think at this point one has to agree that chastity should not only be physical but mental too. The chastity wearer has to want to stay in chastity for their key holder for it to be effective. If the wearer wants to be bratty, they will be able to escape with soapy water.

So a good chastity cage needs a ball ring which is not too tight and allows a finger to be able to be easily pushed between the ring and ball sack. The ring should have no edges and be smooth. Chastity rings with edges are painful and I recommend you just rule those chastity cages out. The ball ring must be smooth with no edges and most ideally be circular in shape.

There are two type of ball entrapment devices. A solid ring and a hinged ring. I started with a hinged ring as they are much easier to put on. But I found I could not wear them for a long term as no matter how well they seemed to be made at the hinge section it would rub along my skin causing chafing and cuts in some instances. So this forced me to take the chastity device off and heal for a week and then I am no longer in chastity. That is an example of chastity device which does not keep you in chastity for long. And after being cut and treating the wound there is a chance this would be a big turn off for many chastity wearers. So I would strongly recommend a fixed ball ring with no hinge is used. The ball ring needs to be as smooth as possible with no edges to prevent discomfort for long term wear.

The next important thing to consider is the spacer between the ring and chastity cage itself. I have tight and high balls with not much loose skin. So I need 13mm of spacing. The problem with increasing he spacing it increases the escapability of the chastity device. Bust as I said before for a true long-term chastity wearer they have to want to mentally and physically wear and not try to escape. For guys with lots of loose skin they can go to spaces of 10mm or less. I would recommend for long term wear that one choses more spacing then less if the device allows that sort of customization.

The next thing to consider is the cage. The more air holes the cage has the more breathable the device will be, the easier to clean and the cage will be able to be worn for a longer term without the need to take it off to clean. Hygiene is important because infections can be caught. I think the steel cages with bars are miles ahead of any plastic device in this case. The plastic devices which I will term as tubes do have holes but in practice the skin just tends to plug the holes up and they don’t do much. I recommend plastic cages are taken of daily for cleaning. Steel cage removal for cleaning can be stretched in comparison. With steel cages I have suffered some pinching where the end of the peepee gets caught between bars. That is one annoying thing I find with steel cages. Steel cages can also get heavy especially for off the shelf steel cages. The custom designed steel cages are generally made lighter and the lighter the cage the more wearable it will be. Plastic cages do tend to split and crack with age. Steel ones should last a lifetime. Obviously when choosing a cage or tube you need to get one that matches your size when flaccid. I recommend you get one the exact flaccid size you are in length and diameter or circumference. This will eliminate any possible erection and the sensitive feelings the peepee gets as the blood flows in during the erection. If you order a cage slightly large it will allow some erection and feelings. Order a cage too short and it gets very uncomfortable as the penis cage tends to cause backwards erections inside you too much if too short. You get like an internal erection if it is just too tight. If too small a circumference it will be hard to slip in, it will pinch the peepee and cause sever indentation marks on the peepee like when wearing a bra too small in size.

Measuring for custom cages is an interesting one. I just find measuring for cages can give different results from different manufactures. I have received cages back smaller than what I have ordered or what I think I have ordered. Did I measure wrong or misinterpret how to measure for that manufacturer? I don’t know. One measurement which is impossible to measure is spacing between the cage and ball ring. You can only get that measurement from experience of wearing a cage beforehand and thinking I need it a little bit smaller or bigger. Then play around with steps of 1 to 2mm.

The following are 4 of the cages I would recommend after trialling a dozen cages. Two of these cages are custom and two are of the shelf. One cage I have never tried but wish I have are the metal cages from Mature Metal. They make some excellent cages and I may try one in the future.

The first chastity device I wore long term was the Holy Trainer V3 Small for around $165US.

Holy Trainer V3 Small

It is an off the shelf chastity device but offers some customization with 4 different tube sizes and 5 different ring sizes. But they have to be bought separately and sizes carefully considered before ordering. I followed the online measuring guide and initially ordered a small with a 40mm ball ring. When it arrived the ball ring was just too tight, so hard to get on and strangling to wear. I was in agony after 10 hours a wear. So I ordered the 45mm ball ring and although better at night during my attempted night time erections I was in agony again and could not sleep. I found with the 45mm ball ring the space between the tube and ring was just not enough. So then I ordered the 50mm base ring and all was well and I was able to wear the device effectively as a chastity device for the long term. With this chastity cage I must wear a moisturiser around the ball ring and inside the cage. The ball ring width is kind of large and plastic seems to get quite sticky when it warms up compared to steel which feels looser. So a moisturizer is needed.

In the Holy Trainer I feel numb. So it is a good chastity device from that perspective. This is the small version and it is a little long for me. The plastic ball ring does chafe a little and it took me a long time to work out why this was happening. If I wore the 45mm diameter ring during night time attempted erections it would strangle me. The 45mm ring would also chafe when walking around. When I tried the 50mm ring and using the Vaseline type moisturizer it fixed the chafing problem. Other things I don't like is the duck bill best shown in the second photo. It digs into my body and is annoying. I don't know what purpose it serves. The gap between the ring and tube is too tight, but that has been improved with using a 50mm ring. The lack of air flow through and hygiene from the plastic tube is a big problem of this device. I would recommend the device is taken of at least one a day for cleaning of the device and your peepee.

Advantages = Very light to wear, takes away all feelings of the peepee, is relatively well priced, is durable for a plastic device.

Disadvantages = Needs a liberal application of moisturizer to retain comfort, air ventilation is non-existent, needs to be taken of daily for washing, the duck bill digging in is frustrating and I would recommend for this reason you can’t exercising with it on. The spacing between the tube and ball ring is too tight for me and requires me to use a 50mm ring. If your balls are high and tight, I recommend you size up 5mm diameter on the ball ring diameter to allow for more room to develop between the tube and the ring.

This cage you buy with 3 different size ball rings, a fixed spacer between the ball ring and the cage and a one size fits all cage. I think this is the best of the shelf chastity cage I have come across. A great starter training cage as the first one to wear to see what wearing a chastity feels like and understanding what you will need for custom sizing if you want to order a custom cage.

It would be one of the best of my cages to wear 24/7 as it is breathable, washable and therefore more hygienic and does not cause a red sore ring around my balls. But I have feelings with this cage on. It allows too much growth as the cage is a little large for me. The bars cause some stimulation I don't like and I am scared to explore without permission as I may be able to cum. I think this cage would be better for a wife to lock her man up with and she could frustrate him with it as he would have feelings. They could have passionate love with her rubbing her pussy on his bars. Then he could eat her pussy and make her climax. Once she has orgasmed and is satisfied, she could unlock him and let him penetrate her and she would orgasm twice with satisfaction. I think this would be a great general purpose one cage fits all chastity device for a domme/dom to have at her finger tips.

Advantages = Cheapest of the good cages I have ever tried, open style makes it breathable and easy to clean and stay hygienic, the bars are well spaced and do not pinch during attempted growth and erections. A durable device which should last a long time.

Disadvantages = The spacing between the cage and the ball ring is a little tight for me and not adjustable, it is the heaviest good device I have which means it will be difficult to wear during vigorous activity and this makes me fearful the weight can make it slip of which is awkward.

Red Chili Lily Cage for around $400US

It is the prettiest cage on the market. Like a piece of jewellery for your cock that your partner will love you wearing as it is just damn so pretty. It is actually very comfortable to wear as it is so light. My biggest gripe is the ball ring is too tight. This is a fully customable cage. When I ordered this cage I ordered a 45mm ball ring and because I was unsure I ordered an additional 48mm ball ring 24 hours later so I could get a good fit. Well two months later I received the product with only a 45mm ring. I emailed back asking where the 48mm ring was? I never received a reply. Two weeks later I emailed again saying I was happy to pay for the additional shipping and need the 48mm ball ring. They never ever replied which is disappointing. I paid for the 48mm ring, I offered to pay for the shipping again. I am a genuine customer and just to ignore me is really disappointing. So with this company when you get the cage and if something needs adjusting and from my experience something will, I don’t think you will get any service. So if you want a custom steel chastity cage, I would recommend trying Mature Metal from the US as they have good customer reviews for adjusting.

I also ordered the steel cage to have an internal diameter of 35mm but received 33mm. This makes it really difficult for me to slip into and I really don’t understand why this size mismanagement has occurred. Do they just take 2mm off every order or is this a genuine mistake on their behalf? Before ordering from this company I would recommend sending an email asking if you order a 35mm internal diameter cage what size will you get? If they never respond, just don’t order. Sort out bad customer service at the start and buy from someone who is willing to service you.

An interesting example when ordering cages from different companies is comparing the Red Chili Lily Cage with the Evotion Wearables Cage Eight (Hot Pink/Purple). These cages were ordered with almost the same measurements. But the Evotion Wearables is so much bigger. You can just see the difference in how the manufacturers have interpreted the measurements I have provided and how their design emphasizes the size you end up with. The only differences in sizes between the two is after getting the Red Chili Lily Cage I increased the ball ring from 45mm to 48mm diameter and ordered the cage 10mm longer with the Evotion Wearables. But the end result appears so very different.

The cage is so light and really comfortable to wear except for the tight ball ring. But I have found I am slowly shrinking or perhaps my balls are started to hang looser and I am slowly growing into the 45mm ring. So in time this cage should become a good fit. But I need to wait and be patient. The cage is probably is a little short but not really a problem for most of the time. Being short makes my peepee end want to peep out of a hole which is annoying as it pinches a lot. Also being so short and tight I can’t get an erection at all and that means I have no feelings with this chastity device. I do have feelings with the previous Masters Pen Cage as it appears a peepee must get a certain amount of blood and erections for the feelings to come alive. I like this chastity device except wish the ring diameter was a little wider and the length was another 10mm longer. I found using my moisturizer around the ring and the cage helped a lot with comfort. I previously didn't use my moisturizer on this steel cage and I feel it needs it.

Advantages= Very light for a steel cage, small general size enables the cage to be well hidden under clothes, open style makes it breathable and easy to clean and stay hygienic, a piece of jewellery in looks. Strong and durable.

Disadvantages = Expensive, poor customer support.

Evotion Wearables Cage Eight Ball Trap for around $318US

This company makes 3D printed fully customable chastity devices both in plastic (nylon) and steel. I ordered a plastic cage which is made from hot pink nylon.

I have only just received this cage so my use and review is only short term. The cage feels well made and it appears it will last. I was concerned about the flat shape of the ball ring but the rounded edges do make them comfortable. I find it hard to squeeze my balls through the ball ring compared to the steel cages as the flat ring ball rings have a much greater contact surface area and makes it harder to squeeze into. My first impressions of the cage is it is so large! And when wearing it, it appears to be less curved then any of my other previous cages. So under clothes is looks large and like I have stiffy. It is really a look I don’t like and it would be unsuitable under some of my outfits. Some men may like that look. I guess it is up to personal preferences. I would prefer more curve in the device and the peepee end I feel can be designed much more tapered. If the end was more tapered it would create more curve and make the device less noticeable under clothes and less stiffie like. In hindsight I would probably order this cage 10mm shorter and since this company states after customization is relatively easy and inexpensive to print it may be something I consider in the future. This cage will probably be my long-term cage to wear and my pick of the bunch I have at present.

Apart from the above curve personal preference issue the cage is probably the best plastic cage on the market. It is breathable, easy to clean, comfortable and light to wear and I highly recommended it.

Disadvantages = The design does not have enough curve and this makes it obvious under tighter clothes even with a small cage length.

Advantages = Very light, open design makes it breathable and easily kept clean, parts can be relatively cheaply ordered if you get sizing wrong or with changes in your size requirements in the future. The cage can be ordered in various colors and even in steel designs. So the customization of this cage is immense.

My conclusion. If you are new to chastity and want to try one out, I would highly recommend getting the Masters Pen Cage first and using it for about 3 months and learning your likes and dislikes and what things you would like to change to get the perfect chastity device. I would recommend using a good petroleum jelly type of moisturizer. Apply it to your chastity device and not your body. If you apply it to your body it will get too slippery to grip and you need to have good grip on yuour balls to manipulate and physically push them through the ring. It is harder then it sounds and does take practice. Don’t be scared to push and force it, a guys balls and cock are highly flexible and can be pushed without injury. Once you are ready to order a custom chastity cage and if it is steel, try Mature Metal. If you want plastic try Evotion Wearables if you can cope with the look of the device under clothing. If that is a major hurdle then just go with Mature Metal.

Well that is my answer for the quest of the perfect male chasity device. I think a chastity device is similar to a mouse trap. There has yet to be a perfect mouse trap invented and I dare say the opinions on what the best chastity device are will also be varied. Stay chaste and faithful and show your key holder you truly love them!
