For twenty years I lived the life of an obedient, subservient wife, who was expected to conform. But not to some putrid morality of a conservative partner. No, nothing of this sort. No, I am not a FLDS surviver. And no, I was not one of those women who was reprimanded if she spoke out of turn, or to a person not previously approved by my partner. If anything, quite to the contrary, he expected me to be less of a wife, and more of an object. Flirt with him, try to hook up with her, do this, wear that... I was in essence an extension of my husband's sexual desires, working to further his pleasure. And as if living in a Yorgos Lanthimos psychological thriller, somewhere, I forgot how to define my own sexuality, an unfortunate byproduct of hypersexuality.

I am now trying to change that.
